Mothers: Discipling and Caring

Topic: AM Service Passage: 1 Timothy 1:3–7, Isaiah 49:14–15, Isaiah 66:13
We all know (perhaps instinctively) that we are to love our mothers. But there is a good reason for that. The Bible reminds us that mothers are crucial to forming children into the adults that God has called them to be. Mothers care for their children from the earliest days. A mother’s love for her children is paradigmatic for selfless, sacrificial love. But more than that, the Scriptures describe how mothers disciple their children in the knowledge of the Lord. One example of this was Timothy’s mother, who continued the legacy of her own mother in discipleship. Not every day is Mother’s Day, but we can be thankful to the Lord every day for “Mothers: Discipling and Caring” (2 Timothy 1:3-7; Isaiah 49:14-15; Isaiah 66:13).
