The Foundation: Marriage

Topic: AM Service Passage: Genesis 2:18–24, Ephesians 5:22–33
What makes a family? Because we live in a fallen world where sin and death are widespread, families come in all shapes and sizes. But God tells us in His Word how He founded the family. In the Garden of Eden, after the creation of the world and everything in it, God looked and said, “it is not good that the man should be alone.” This sharply contrasted the Lord’s statements after each day of creation: “God saw that it was good.” So the Lord created Eve and brought her and Adam together in the first marriage. Marriage is not just something that is practical to society or beneficial for raising children (although it is also that). It is a divine design for human relationships. As we think about the family, we would do well to consider “The Foundation: Marriage” (Genesis 2:18-24; Ephesians 5:22-33).
