As the time approaches when we remember the incarnation – how the Son of God became man to redeem His people – it is appropriate to see how the Scriptures looked forward to this event. Redemption was planned by the Father, Son, and Spirit in eternity past. That means that the prophets from the Old Testament prophesied about the coming of Jesus. It means that the angels longed to see that day. This should give us a great sense of wonder as we contemplate the goodness and grace of our Lord. As the day of the Savior’s birth approached, all creation was “Waiting for Jesus” (1 Peter 1:10-12).
