The Reason for Christmas
December 19, 2021 Speaker: Fred Greco Series: Christmas
Topic: AM Service Passage: 1 Timothy 1:15
When we think of Christmas, our minds are filled with many images – trees, presents, eggnog, and cookies. This can distract us from the real meaning of Christmas, the birth of Jesus Christ. But it is also true that certain aspects about the birth of our Savior can distract us from “The Reason for Christmas” (1 Timothy 1:15). We can get caught up with the baby in the manger, shepherds, angels, and wise men. Christmas is not a story confined to itself. It is a part of THE great story of the God-man, our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus was born for a purpose, and that was “to save sinners” like you and me. The Apostle Paul understood this and pointed to himself as an example of the saving power of Jesus. Jesus could save the “foremost of sinners” like Paul, and that is our hope, the hope of Christmas!
