I Am the Good Shepherd

Topic: AM Service Passage: John 10:11–18
Jesus wants us to know that He cares for His people and laid down His life to save them. Throughout the gospels, He does this over and over, including using metaphors or pictures of what that looks like. In John 10, Jesus uses the Biblical picture of a shepherd and sheep. He tells us that He is the good shepherd. That means that He is the one who protects, nourishes, and saves the sheep from danger and themselves. We are like sheep – we often prefer things that are harmful to us, and we wander into the midst of danger. Understanding that we can find hope, safety, and life in Jesus is the first step toward abundant life in Christ. We need to believe our Lord when He says, “I Am the Good Shepherd” (John 10:11-18)
