The Return of the King
December 12, 2021 Speaker: Fred Greco Series: 2 Samuel
Topic: AM Service Passage: 2 Samuel 19:8–40
David has won the war. He has survived a rebellion by his son Absalom and now begins to return to Jerusalem. The next step is for David to win the peace. His journey back to the capital is much safer than his flight away from it, but there are still dangers to be overcome. He must reunite all the tribes of Israel and reestablish the kingdom. As David returns home, we have another series of vignettes where the king meets his subjects. In these incidents, we get a glimpse of the true King, great David’s Greater Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. This is an encouragement for Christians as we await “The Return of the King” (2 Samuel 19:9-19:43).
