Nations Raging

September 12, 2021 Speaker: Fred Greco Series: 2 Samuel

Topic: AM Service Passage: 2 Samuel 10:1–19

Some parts of the Bible seem like they exist solely to lead us to a more important passage. 2 Samuel 10 may appear to be such a Bible passage. We know that the significant story of David and Bathsheba takes place during a war with the Ammonites (2 Samuel 11:1), so of course, we have to find out how that war started. The danger here is that we can overlook the substance of God’s Word. Before we pass over this chapter, we would do well to linger for a while. We would see that we are called to show kindness even to those who oppose us. We would also realize that the enemies of God will rage against Him, even to their own folly and destruction. And we would know that faith is not knowing with certainty the outcome of all events but is trusting the Lord in the midst of uncertainty. This is “Nations Raging” (2 Samuel 10:1-19).
