The King Goes to War
July 11, 2021 Speaker: Fred Greco Series: 2 Samuel
Topic: AM Service Passage: 2 Samuel 5:17–25
Often it feels like, as believers, we are locked in a battle with the enemies of God. Jesus warned us that the world hated Him first and that as a result, it would hate His followers (John 15:18). The Old Testament gives us a picture of the spiritual battle that has raged since the days of the seed of the serpent in Eden. Now that David is king over all Israel, the Philistines waste no time in trying to destroy him and his kingdom. Not once, but twice, they come against David in battle. They do not intend to give any quarter – annihilation in on their minds. But unlike Saul, who led Israel “like all the nations,” David seeks the Lord. It is the Lord who leads Israel into battle when “The King Goes to War” (2 Samuel 5:17-25).
