Ultimate Generosity

Topic: AM Service Passage: 2 Corinthians 8:7–9
The Apostle Paul gives a theology of Christian giving and generosity in 2 Corinthians 8 and 9. The occasion for this was the collection for relief for the churches in Judea and Jerusalem. But Paul makes clear that what is most important about giving is not meeting a material need but developing grace in the giver. After presenting the example of the Macedonians, Paul moves to apply the principles of generosity to the Corinthians. Those principles apply to believers today. We are called to long for the grace of giving in our lives and to imitate our Lord Jesus Christ, who became poor so that we could be rich. That is the “Ultimate Generosity” (2 Corinthians 8:7-9).
