Christians have the privilege and obligation to tell others about the greatness of God and about what He has done in their lives. It can be difficult to reach out to others or to know what to say. In John 4, we have the example of our Savior talking with a woman at the well. It is a great wonder that the best way we can learn about “Sharing Jesus” (John 4:1-42) is from Jesus Himself! Jesus gives us an instance of how to approach someone, how to see the real need in others’ lives, and how to share the good news of the gospel in a way that is both pointed and patient. We ought not to expect that we will be as effective or as wise as Jesus, but we should be willing to follow His lead.

Questions for consideration: (1) What things or duties in your life keep you from talking to others about Jesus? What could you change so you would have more gospel opportunities? (2) What is the danger of getting personal with someone? How is it that Jesus was able to do that without giving offense? What can we learn from his interaction with the woman? (3) Why must we share Jesus?
