Introduction
When tempted to fall away, believers should remember God’s good work in their lives!

I. Falling away from a profession of faith is a terrifying thing to do
A. Falling away is a willful choice (vs. 26)
B. Falling away is to abandon hope of forgiveness (vs. 26-27)
C. Falling away is an insult to Christ and the Holy Spirit (vs. 28-29)
D. Falling away is normal in the church (vs. 30-31)

II. Shun falling by remembering God’s gracious work in your life
A. Remember when you were converted (vs. 32a)
B. Remember when the Lord brought you through sufferings (vs. 32b)
C. Remember when you lost and gained so much (vs. 34)

III. Keep your confidence in the Lord
A. He holds a great reward for you (vs. 35)
B. He has what you so disparately need again–endurance (vs. 36)
C. He is coming for His own (vs. 37-38)
D. He gives the grace and faith to persevere (vs. 39)

Questions for consideration: (1) What is falling away from a profession of faith? (2) Are you scared of falling away? (3) What can we do to avoid falling away? (4) Who can keep us from falling away?
