Introduction
I. Aaron and his sons were appointed as priests!
A. Aaronic priests were taken from among men (vs. 1)
B. These priests were appointed by God to sacrifice (vs. 1, 4)
C. They were able to sympathize with other sinners (vs. 2-3)
II. Christ was appointed as our great high priest!
A. The Father appointed the Son (vs. 5-6)
B. The Son was fitted for the job (vs. 7-8)
C. The Son dispenses eternal salvation (vs. 9-10)
III. We have a role to play, too!
A. We are called to growth in Christ (vs. 11)
B. We are called to maturity in Christ (vs. 12)
C. We are called to discernment in Christ (vs. 13-14)
Conclusion
Questions for Consideration: (1) Who could be priests in Old Testament Israel? (2) Who could not be priests in Old Testament Israel? (3) Who was the great high priest of all? Why? (4) What are we supposed to do as Christ’s followers?
