Topic: AM Service Passage: Isaiah 40:1–11
In chapter 40, Isaiah begins a new section of his book. The first part of Isaiah is often called “The Book of Judgment,” as God lays out the case against His people for their sins and for their abandonment of the Lord. Now, Isaiah turns to what can be called “The Book of Comfort,” in which the prophet tells God’s people they have a great and sure hope. That hope is in the Lord, who is ever faithful and true, ever able and mighty, ever tender and gracious. This is a word that we all need to hear. Life is hard, and we are all too aware of our sins and shortcomings. We need to hear that there is “The God of All Comfort: God the Redeemer” (Isaiah 40:1-11).
