Be Gracious, O Lord! (Isaiah 33)

Topic: AM Service Passage: Isaiah 33:1–24
Isaiah brings his final “sermon” in the center section of his book, introduced again with “Ah” (or “woe”). This is another of Isaiah’s poems, or even a psalm, prefiguring the Lord's defeat of Assyria. Isaiah expresses the plea of the people of God as they see danger beyond their ability to handle. Their only hope is to wait upon the Lord. The Lord answers their prayer and shows His power and authority. “Now I will arise,” could there be any more welcome sound to the ears of God’s people? We should join our hearts with Isaiah’s and plead “Be Gracious, O Lord” (Isaiah 33:1-24).
