Paul has written to the Corinthians about the opportunities that the Lord gives in stewardship and the blessings to be found in stewardship. Now he moves to “The Gospel in Stewardship” (2 Cor. 9:6-15), linking the work of God in the hearts of believers to their abounding in good works, including stewardship and generosity. Our temptation is to think of our generosity and stewardship as something we do, something for which we should be praised. But Paul reminds us that it is God’s grace to us that makes us “abound in every good work.”
