Topic: AM Service Passage: Isaiah 29:1–24
Isaiah shifts his prophetic vision from the eternal horizon (“in that day”) back to the present in chapter 29. Assyria is lurking, and Judah is seeking salvation through an alliance with Egypt. In the chapters to come, Isaiah will describe the invasion and its results. But now, Isaiah tells Judah that the Lord is about to show them that He does not take kindly to being ignored. Following those warnings, Isaiah then begins to set forth “The Lord’s Wondrous Works” that He will perform for His people (Isaiah 29:1-24).
