The Valley of Vision (Isaiah 22:1-25)

Topic: AM Service Passage: Isaiah 22:1–25
“The Valley of Vision” (Isaiah 22) was the name given to the area around Jerusalem. Although Jerusalem is on a hill, it is surrounded by valleys on three sides. Isaiah provides one of those prophetic visions as he records the sad spectacle of God’s people not only failing to trust in the Lord but also being careless about the consequences of that. This passage is the source for Paul’s citation, “let us eat and drink for tomorrow we die.” Paul pointed to the foolishness of such thinking; it is emblematic of a world that rejects God. But the sadness of this vision is that it has found a home among God’s people. May we root out such sin in our lives!
