Topic: AM Service Passage: Isaiah 17:1– 21:17
If the chief end for which we were made is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever, than the worst thing we can possibly do is to worship idols and give God’s glory to another. In a series of oracles regarding the nations surrounding Israel, Isaiah describes the end of idolaters and their idolatry – destruction! (Isaiah 21:9) But Isaiah’s oracles are more than just declarations to historical kingdoms and empires that have fallen. They are a warning to God’s people but then and now that it is foolish to trust in anything but the Lord. Idols bring death and loss, but the Lord brings life and hope. That is the lesson of “The Fall of Idols and Idolaters” (Isaiah 17:1-21:17).
