Judgment on Moab (Isaiah 15:1-16:14)

Passage: Isaiah 15:1– 16:14
Moab was the cousin nation to Israel, as Genesis 19 explains. But despite their “kinship,” Moab sought to destroy Israel, first by hiring Balaam to curse her and then coming with war during the days of the Judges. The Moabites were known for their idolatry, worshiping Chemosh by sacrificing their children. Isaiah now pronounces an oracle against Moab, telling how the Lord will bring Moab low. Isaiah tells of how the Lord grieves that Moab has rebelled against Him and chosen false gods. But significantly, the Lord also reminds us that the way of pride is the path of self-destruction. Such is the “Judgment on Moab” (Isaiah 15:1-16:14).
