What do you do when events in the world seem to be crashing in on you? The temptation is to put all your energy and focus on the circumstances and try and come up with a solution. But that is a recipe for disaster when it makes us forget the Lord. Judah and her king, Ahaz, were enjoying prosperity and power when a threat arose to the north – Israel and Syria.  All of their focus was on that threat and they gave no thought to the Lord and His promises. Isaiah is sent to tell the people that the real threat is being sent by the Lord Himself and that their only hope was to turn to Him. It was also a message to Isaiah and the faithful to “Wait Upon the Lord” (Isaiah 8:1-22)
