Christ the High Priest

Topic: AM Service Passage: Psalm 110:1–7
Under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, David proclaimed the deity of the Messiah. He wrote, "The Lord says to my Lord," clearly indicating that David’s Lord was greater than he himself—despite being the king of Israel. The Messiah would come to reign and establish His kingdom, and David also reveals something very important about Him: He would be a priest. However, He would not be just any priest; the Messiah would be a priest not after the order of Aaron, but after the order of Melchizedek. While we don’t know much about Melchizedek, the author of Hebrews emphasizes his significance. In fact, Hebrews refers to the connection between Melchizedek and Christ no fewer than eight times. Psalm 110 illustrates "Christ the High Priest" (Psalm 110).
