Jesus and Peter Reunited

Topic: AM Service Passage: John 21:15–17
One of the great challenges for believers is to leave behind their past sins. Often we think that we are unable to serve the Lord because of things we have done or because we have failed the Lord. At the end of his gospel, John brings us the account of Jesus restoring Peter. Peter had committed one of the most egregious sins ever – denying Jesus after Peter had boasted about his faithfulness. Jesus had spoken “peace” to Peter, and he knew he was forgiven; the question now was whether Peter was fit to serve Christ and bring the gospel to the world. Jesus questions Peter three times (just as Peter had denied Him three times) and reassures him that His grace is sufficient. This is a beautiful picture of “Jesus and Peter Reunited” (John 21:15-17).
