When the Lord Jesus Christ rose from the dead, He defeated death and accomplished the redemption of His people. However, as John continues to recount Jesus’ appearances after the resurrection, he shows us that Jesus has commissioned His Church to bring the message of forgiveness and grace to the world. Even as the disciples gather and huddle together in fear, Jesus comes into their midst with words of peace, encouragement, and purpose. Jesus is readying the disciples for Pentecost and the explosion of the gospel. Not even Thomas’ doubts can stop the Kingdom of God when “Jesus Appears to the Disciples” (John 20:19-31).
