The Burial of Jesus

September 29, 2024 Speaker: Fred Greco Series: John

Topic: AM Service Passage: John 19:38–42

In the Savior’s work of redemption, we often rightly focus on Jesus’ death and resurrection. But it is also important for us to understand the account of His burial as well. As John closes the 19th chapter of his gospel, he narrates the events after Jesus’ death. Two men come on the scene – Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus. One (Nicodemus) we have seen before; the other (Joseph) is new to us. However, the two men have something in common: John tells us that they were “secretly” disciples of Jesus. This important fact is something from which we can learn. And we can also learn from the account of “The Burial of Jesus” (John 19:38-42). His burial is proof of His death – much like the resurrection is proof of His life.
