High Priestly Prayer: Christ's Mission
July 7, 2024 Speaker: Fred Greco Series: John
Topic: AM Service Passage: John 17:14–19
Jesus prays for His disciples in His High Priestly Prayer, and He also prays for the Church that would follow them. In His prayer, Jesus describes by what characteristics the Church should be marked. He prayed that the Church would have His joy, and now He prays that the Church will be marked by holiness and truth. It is through holiness, that is, being set apart to God, and through truth, that is, the Word of God, that the Church will fulfill the mission that the Lord Jesus has for it. Jesus sends His people out into the world just as He was sent – with a message of salvation and grace. This is the “High Priestly Prayer: Christ’s Mission” (John 14:14-19).
