High Priestly Prayer: Christ’s People
May 26, 2024 Speaker: Fred Greco Series: John
Topic: AM Service Passage: John 17:6–8
Jesus’ great High Priestly prayer begins with a prayer for Himself but moves quickly to a prayer for His people. Several times, He prays to the Father for the people “whom You gave Me.” In this prayer, our Savior reminds us that His redeemed people were taken out of the world by the Father and given to the Son, showing us the truth of divine election. And Jesus also tells us that His people have received His Word, believed it, and acted upon it. This is the great truth of faith in Christ. What a privilege it is to know that we belong to Jesus and that He prays for us as we read the “High Priestly Prayer: Christ’s People” (John 17:6-9).
