I Am the Light of the World

Topic: AM Service Passage: John 8:12–30
The gospel of John gives us many pictures of Jesus’ saving work. That is because the Lord Jesus Christ called people to Himself repeatedly in many different ways. After the Pharisees failed to trap Him with the case of a woman caught in adultery, Jesus looked out over the crowds at the feast and proclaimed, “I Am the Light of the World” (John 8:12-30). It was a powerful statement meant to describe the state of mankind – lost in darkness and in need of light, as well as the provision of salvation for mankind. We face the same problems as the people of Jesus’ day. Sin and darkness are all around us and within us. It is only in Jesus that we have hope.
