Do Not Judge By Appearances
January 29, 2023 Speaker: Fred Greco Series: John
Topic: AM Service Passage: John 7:1–24
John has a specific purpose in his gospel: to show us that Jesus is the Christ and that we can have eternal life by believing in Him. So John skips past much of Jesus’ ministry in Galilee and brings us to the Feast of Booths, the popular end of harvest feast in Israel. Jesus did not publicly go up to the festival to increase His popularity. Instead, He waited and arrived in the middle of the feast. When He spoke, those who heard Him marveled at His wisdom. Even so, that did not stop the Jewish leaders from continuing their hatred of Him. Jesus reminds them that they are inconsistent in their beliefs and tells them, “Do Not Judge By Appearances” (John 7:1-24).
