As John 6 concludes, Jesus closes His discourse on the Bread of Life. This brings us to one of the more interesting and challenging sections of Scripture. We often expect everyone to flock to Jesus – sure that if we only present Jesus winsomely enough, anyone will believe. But here, we see large numbers of Jesus’ disciples (not His enemies) leaving Him because of His teaching. But those who have been made alive by the Spirit of God know that there is no other place to go because Jesus has the “Wonderful Words of Life” (John 6:60-71).
