We were created for relationships! Community is a foundational aspect of God’s design for humanity. It is also foundational for the church. God’s design for the church was not an afterthought. No- he designed the church and described it in His word in a variety of ways. Two of the predominate metaphors in the NT are that of a body and of a family. Both metaphors speak of the interconnectedness of the members and the strength and unity of relationships within the church. The ‘one another’ passages help us better understand how to live in community within the church. The foundational and overarching command is to love- “love one another.” This is found in several places in the New Testament. This sermon will look at four primary texts which help us learn how to love one another well.
I. A Comprehensive Command
II. A Competing Command
III. A Covering Command
IV. A Christ-like Command
