Out of Darkness and Into the Light

Topic: AM Service Passage: John 3:17–21
John’s gospel contains that most famous and marvelous statement: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” But have you stopped to think about why Jesus had to be given? Why He had to come? Why those who do not believe in Jesus will perish, according to John? After that marvelous gospel promise, Jesus tells us the answer: because those who do not believe are condemned already, condemned because their works are evil, and they love darkness. This is not the kind of news we like to hear, but it is a hard truth that we have to face. We have to face the reality that trusting in Jesus Christ and His work is our only hope. It is only by faith that we go “Out of Darkness and Into the Light” (John 3:17-21)
