In the first 18 verses of his gospel, John introduces us to the eternal Son of God, the Word. He tells us what is so magnificent, so breathtaking about Jesus Christ. Then John turns to the testimony of John the Baptist, who announced to the world that he was preparing the way for the Word. John made every effort to stop people from focusing on him and instead pointed people to the Savior. As our Lord Jesus began to walk the earth, John testified that He was exactly what a world full of sinners needed. Jesus is “The Lamb of God” (John 1:19-34).
