Absalom's Conspiracy

October 31, 2021 Speaker: Fred Greco Series: 2 Samuel

Topic: AM Service Passage: 2 Samuel 15:1–15:37

Conspiracy! Rebellion! With his carefully crafted image, Absalom makes his play for the throne – a plan that was years in the making and months in the execution. Absalom puts on a show intended to impress Israel that he is a most fair-minded man of the people. If they want justice, they need to come to him! If they want to feel valued, well, he is there to shake their hands and share a burger and fries. The trumpet sounds in Hebron, and David is on the run. Yet, we know that all of this is happening because of the Lord’s sovereign hand and His prophecy of judgment in chapter 12. The irony here is that as we look deeper into one of the darkest times of David’s life, we see the Lord working by His grace to reignite David’s spiritual flame. God is judging David but not abandoning him. There is hope, even in the midst of “Absalom’s Conspiracy” (2 Samuel 15:1-37).
