Mercy on Display

Topic: AM Service Passage: 2 Samuel 9:1–13
The Lord is not only One who shows mercy, but He has bound Himself to mercy through His covenant. The Lord’s covenant mercy is everlasting. This great Biblical word – kindness, steadfast love, favor, mercy, lovingkindness – however we translate it, describes God’s love that is showered on His people. When David the King calls Mephibosheth to himself, David shows us what this mercy looks like. He also shows us what it means to keep a promise. But perhaps greatest of all, David is a type of the Lord Jesus Christ who shows us that mercy comes to those who are undeserving. We, who were once enemies of God, are made children by the mercy of Christ. This story shows us “Mercy on Display” (2 Samuel 9:1-13).
