A Divided Kingdom

Topic: AM Service Passage: 2 Samuel 2:1–32
The Old Testament is full of images meant to point us to the Lord Jesus Christ. The sacrificial lamb, God’s redemption of His people in Exodus, and the Temple are just a few examples. In 2 Samuel, we have a picture of King Jesus in His precursor, David. David was chosen by God to be Israel’s King and was anointed for the task. 2 Samuel 2 shows us the very beginning of David’s reign – small and seemingly insignificant at first but destined to show forth the glory of God. In this chapter, we see the kingdom of God made visible and the world’s opposition that inevitably arises against the Lord in “A Divided Kingdom” (2 Samuel 2:1-32).
