In Mark 13, Jesus gives extended teaching from the Mt. of Olives. He has prophesied about the destruction of the temple and the disciples have asked about the timing of this event. Jesus answers by giving them signs that will come before the end of the temple. These signs were given for their safety and preservation. However, Jesus also gives warnings and signs of His second coming in Mark 13. He weaves the two events together in such a way that we in the 21st century must take heed.
