Living to Please God

Topic: AM Service Passage: 2 Corinthians 5:6–10
What is the purpose of life? Philosophers and thinkers have pondered this question for ages, debating on what people should focus their lives. The well-known first question to the Westminster Shorter Catechism asks, “What is man’s chief end” or purpose? The answer is “To glorify God and enjoy Him forever.” If you have heard that answer and wondered what it meant, or what the Biblical basis is for that answer, the Apostle Paul gives us his thoughts (inspired by the Holy Spirit) in 2 Corinthians 5. The aim of Christians is the same, regardless of whether they are living in the here and now or have passed on to be with the Lord. That aim is “Living to Please God” (2 Cor. 5:6-10).
