Deliverance from Affliction

April 26, 2020 Speaker: Fred Greco Series: 2 Corinthians

Topic: AM Service Passage: 2 Corinthians 1:8–11

Affliction has a way of focusing the mind of the believer. It brings us to an end of ourselves because it makes (painfully) clear that we are not able to save ourselves. The Apostle Paul understood this, for, despite all his gifts and skills, he suffered affliction so great that he “despaired of life itself.” Why would a loving God allow His children to suffer? While we may not know the complete answer to that question in this life, Paul helps us. Affliction forces us to rely on the Lord when we are tempted to rely on ourselves. The Lord is the one who provides “Deliverance from Affliction” (2 Cor. 1:8-11).
