This passage shows us the challenge that affluence presents to those who would enter the kingdom of God. However, it is not just the wealthy that struggle to enter. As Jesus tells the disciples, “how difficult it is to enter the kingdom of God.” This is true, not just for the one who is trusting in their riches, but for everyone who is in any way trusting in themselves or anything besides Jesus. Jesus tells the disciples there is a great cost to following Him, but there is great reward as well- both in this life and in the life to come.
