A King, Enslaved

November 11, 2018 Speaker: Jason Wegener Series: Mark

Topic: PM Service Passage: Mark 6:14–29

This text reveals a sobering and startling contrast between two men: John the Baptist, who paid the ultimate cost of discipleship; and Herod, who refused to be a follower of Christ, but instead was enslaved to his passions! John provides us a wonderful example of one who was truly a slave to righteousness. Herod, on the other hand, is one who sadly gives us a vivid example of one who was a slave to his sin.

I. The Example of Herod
A. Sinner
B. (False) Seeker
C. Slave to his Sin

II. The Example of John the Baptist
A. Filled with the Spirit
B. (True) Seeker
C. Slave to Righteousness
