Foes, Followers, and Fans

March 4, 2018 Speaker: Jason Wegener Series: Mark

Topic: PM Service Passage: Mark 3:7–19

Mark pauses to reflect on the rapid growth of Christ’s ministry and to give us the account of the calling of the 12 disciples. Within the crowds mentioned in opening verses, we see those who oppose Jesus, His foes. We also see those who seek to understand His message and do his will, His followers. And finally, we see those who are only there for the miracles or merely out of curiosity, the fans. Ultimately, the fans must become followers, or they will be His foes. As Christ called His disciples, he gives us a model that we can use to become better disciples ourselves.

I.  Foes of Christ
A.  Evil Spirits
B.  Pharisees

II.  Followers of Christ
A.  They walk with Him
B.  They are sent out from Him
C.  They carry His authority

III.  Fans of Christ
A.  If these will submit to Christ, they will become followers
B.  If these reject Christ, they will be His foes.
