The Church of Jesus Christ should be a place where community is formed, and where people who know that they are broken and have needs can feel safe. But it is a special kind of community that can provide true relationships, safety, and encouragement – a covenant community. “Covenant” is more than just an adjective describing what community looks like; it is at the center of what it means to be a Christian community. The Church is in a covenantal relationship with the Lord God, and He is the source of life for believers. To follow Jesus means to look to the Lord and to honor Him for who He is. All we do, whether it is encouraging each other, reaching out into our community, or serving the Kingdom, begins with our worship of the one who made us and redeemed us. What makes the Church a place of love and service is that it is “A Worshipping Community” (Psalm 95; Acts 2:42-47).

Questions for consideration: (1) What would be proper sources of joy in our worship? Improper sources? (2) How does worship help us in the struggles of life? (3) In what ways have you seen your life change because of a commitment to regular worship? How have you struggled out of worship?
