Deliverance

June 15, 2014 Speaker: Fred Greco Series: Luke

Topic: AM Service Passage: Luke 8:26–8:39

Do you sometimes feel trapped by the world, your circumstances, or even your own habits? Do you wonder what it would like to be truly free? Are there times when you wonder whether you even deserve to be free? If so, you are not alone. In fact, these kinds of thoughts have washed over people from the earliest of days. Luke records for us the story of a man who was trapped in a way we can only imagine – a prisoner to not only his sins, but to a horde of demons who wanted to use him to destroy any evidence that he was made in the image of God. Stories about demons can be frightening; stories about many fierce demons can be downright terrifying; but when our Lord Jesus Christ steps into the story, we see that there is hope, freedom, and blessing. We see that Jesus is the one who brings “Deliverance” (Luke 8:26-39).

I. In Need of Deliverance

III. Responding to Deliverance

B. Blessed by Freedom

Questions for consideration: (1) Which sins in your life are most tempted to think you can control? How does that affect the way you live? (2) How does this passage help us to bring a message of hope to others around us who do not know Jesus? (3) How should this passage inform and motivate the way you live? How should it affect your view of Jesus?
