Is it right for the Christian to reject all notions of government? How does God want us to view government? At the end of his letter to the Romans, Paul sets forth a clear command for the believer concerning government, and ways in which the believer can apply it.
I. God Establishes Authorities
A. Clear Command
B. All Authority From God
II. God Uses Authorities
A. For Our Good
B. As His Servants
III. God Expects Respect for Authorities
A. Not Just Lip Service
B. Respect From the Heart
Questions for consideration: (1) Why do you think God has established governments as the way He rules the nations? (2) What is the hardest part about respecting authority for you? How can you seek the Lord’s help in that? (3) Why is obeying Paul’s directive important for our evangelism?
