Zechariah

The prophet Zechariah was used by the Lord to bring a word of encouragement to the people of God after their return from exile in Babylon. He was a contemporary of Haggai who reminded Israel to focus upon the Lord in the midst of their trials and struggles. The book is filled with visions that are sometimes hard to understand, but ultimately the Lord would establish His Kingdom and place the son of David upon the throne. It is also a book that provides many quotations and citations to the New Testament. The God of Zechariah is the mighty "Lord of Hosts" who cannot be defeated.
