Dr. Derek Thomas is serving as stated supply here at Christ Church PCA while our Pastoral Search Committee prayerfully seeks out a new senior pastor. During his time at Christ Church, Dr. Thomas will be preaching through the book of Hebrews.
Dr. Thomas has faithfully served our Lord’s church since his graduation from Reformed Theological Seminary in 1978. After pastoring for 17 years in Belfast, Northern Ireland, he returned to the USA in 1996 where, in addition to his service to the Jackson campus of RTS, he served as the Minister of Teaching at First Presbyterian Church in Jackson until 2011, when he joined the staff at First Presbyterian Church of Columbia, South Carolina. Dr. Thomas retired from serving as FPC’s senior pastor in 2023. He is currently the Chancellor’s Professor of Systematic and Pastoral Theology at RTS and a Teaching Fellow with Ligonier Ministries, as well as the author of more than two dozen books. Dr. Thomas is a pastor, a theologian, a seminary professor, and is passionate about classical music and opera. He and his wife, Rosemary, have been married since 1976; they have two grown children, two grandchildren, and two dogs.
