Worship

Come and worship the risen Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, with the people of Christ Church PCA this coming Sunday!

Our weekly morning worship service is held each Lord’s Day (Sunday) at 9:30 AM on the West side of Houston. We are located at 3025 Katy Gaston Road in Katy, Texas. In our worship, we strive to make the Word of God the center of all we do, and to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ. We seek to sign the Word, pray the Word, read the Word and preach the Word. Our musical accompaniment is provided by an ensemble of talented members of Christ Church. We strive to incorporate the best of classical hymns, metrical Psalms and contemporary songs in our worship.

THIS WEEK

This Sunday (3/7) we will come together to worship the Risen Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.  This is a time for us to gather not only to hear the Lord’s truth, but to show our devotion to the Lord of truth, and to unite with His people.  Remember that the Church of Jesus Christ is not just the sum of individuals, not just “our” church, but the people that the Lord Jesus has put His stamp upon, the people that He loves at the cost of His blood.  We worship the Lord best when we unite our hearts and then direct our hearts to Him.  I am reminded of a song about worship (Let the Worshippers Arise):

Father I hear it growing louder
The song of your redeemed
As the saints of every nation
Are awakening to sing
From our hearts there comes an anthem
Oh, hear the heavens ring
This is our song, a song to our King!

Let the worshippers arise
Let the sons and the daughters sing
I surrender in my all
I surrender to the King

This week I will begin a new sermon series: Spiritual Disciplines.  Before we move to our next book of the Bible in April (which will be the book of Acts), we will spend four weeks thinking about some spiritual disciplines God describes in His Word to help us on the journey of the Christian life.  We will begin with Meditation – not the kind where we sit around and say “Oomm” over and over, but the kind where we chew on and think on God’s Word.  In subsequent weeks, we will look at Solitude, Fasting, and Stewardship.  In the evening, Pastor Carroll will be preaching on one of the most profound of the Psalms, Psalm 19.  In that Psalm, the Lord show how He reveals Himself to every single person on earth through His creation.   As usual, you may play the hymn tunes through your computer speakers by clicking on the titles of the songs in this week’s bulletin.

This week we begin a new quarter of Christian Education classes.  We have new teachers for our children’s and youth classes, as well as three new adult classes:

Romans – Teacher: Daryl Brister. Join us for the continuing journey of Paul’s letter to the Christians in Rome.  We’ll do a quick recap of Chapters 1-8 and the doctrine Paul laid out for the early New Testament Christians and then dive into Chapters 9-16 as we unfold Paul’s practical application of how to apply that doctrine in our lives in today’s culture.

Person and Work of Christ – Teacher: Pastor Fred Greco. Jesus Christ is central to our faith, but do we really know as much about Him as we should? In order to know how great a Savior we have, we must first understand who He is (His Person) and what He has done for us (His Work). In this class we will explore these crucial truths.

Jeremiah – Teacher: Neal Hare. The consistent message of an Almighty God is found in the book of Jeremiah. We will study how God brings judgment for unrepentant sin and grace and mercy for His people.
