Worship
ome and worship the risen Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, with the people of Christ Church PCA this coming Sunday!
Our weekly morning worship service is held each Lord’s Day (Sunday) at 9:30 AM in the cafetorium of Taylor High School in Katy, Texas. In our worship, we strive to make the Word of God the center of all we do, and to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ. We seek to sign the Word, pray the Word, read the Word and preach the Word. Our musical accompaniment is provided by an ensemble of talented members of Christ Church. We strive to incorporate the best of classical hymns, metrical Psalms and contemporary songs in our worship.
THIS WEEK
The picnics are all over. The fireworks have finished blazing across the night sky. The celebrations of our nation’s independence (July 4th) have come to a close. But as we gather together this Lord’s Day, the Lord calls us to remember His declaration of independence from all pretend gods. The Lord is not dependent on anyone, and He alone reigns in majesty. Better than that for us, the Lord fights our battles for us, defeating all His and our enemies by the power of His Word. This week, Pastor Greco will continue his series in 1 Kings with a sermon on 1 Kings 18 - “The Battle is the Lord’s” - as we see God show Israel who really is the Lord and King.
We will rejoice in song, singing “Glorious Things of Thee are Spoken” and “The Battle Belongs to the Lord,” and we will bless the Lord by singing Psalm 34. After our worship, we have Sunday school for all ages. The two adult classes continue with Pastor Carroll teaching on the Westminster Confession of Faith, and Pastor Greco finishing up substituting for Elder Steve Mathis in The Minor Prophets. Elder Andrew McCallum continues his class on Christian worldview (Thinking Like a Christian). You can read more about this in this week’s bulletin.
In our evening worship this week, we have a special treat, and it is even better than the 4th of July Supper afterwards! (although everyone will enjoy the fried chicken and hot dogs!) We have Rev. Ben Hailey, the new Reformed University Fellowship (RUF) minister at Texas A&M. Ben will tell us about his plans for ministry in Aggieland, and it is an excellent opportunity for college aged students (and their parents) to learn more about college ministry.
