Building Community in an Individualistic World

October 27, 2013 Speaker: Fred Greco Series: Post Christian World

Topic: AM Service Passage: Romans 12:9–12:21

In a world that is increasingly individualistic, Christians have the opportunity to show what it means to be a part of a real community, bound together by love and the work of the Lord Jesus Christ.

I. The Foundations of Community (v9-12)
A. Love
B. Enthusiasm
C. Patience

II. Living Out Community (v13-16)
A. It is Costly
B. It is Difficult

III. Not Surrendering Community (v17-21)
A. Peacemaking
B. Pardon
C. Perseverance

Questions for consideration: (1) What factors in the world today have a tendency to isolate us? What things keep you from building close(r) relationships? (2) Why is it so important for Christians to build and maintain community? Can you think of three reasons? (3) How can we overcome evil? Is that a fight we can win?
