Sermons

Here at Christ Church PCA, we desire God’s people to grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18) and to be encouraged and strengthened by His Word (1 Thessalonians 5:11). We also desire those who do not know Christ to hear the good news of the gospel through God’s ordained means of preaching (Romans 10:14-17).

Because of these commitments, the normal practice of preaching at Christ Church PCA is to preach expositionally through a book of the Bible. By "expositionally," we believe that the main purpose of the sermon is to expose or explain the what the Bible says to the congregation. A sermon is not a place to hear what the pastor thinks, or what the elders think, or even what the congregation thinks. It is to hear what God thinks. The Bible is a book, after all, made up of smaller books within it. In order to understand the message that God delivers through a passage, it is most helpful to have that passage in context. It can be just as difficult to jump into the middle of the history of David or a letter written by the Apostle Paul as is it would be to start in the middle of a Tom Clancy novel or a history of the United States. By going consecutively through a book of the Bible, we can keep in our minds the forest even while we stop to look at some trees. Our goal at Christ Church in preaching is to help the congregation understand the Bible better, and apply it to their lives.

Current Sunday Morning Sermon Series

Series on 1 Kings

In the morning worship service (9:30 AM), Pastor Greco has been preaching through the book of 1 Kings. At first, 1 Kings looks like a daunting long, dry, dusty book.  But when we come to understand that the author condensed historical material covering nearly twice the time of U.S. history into about fifty page, we see that the Spirit of God was very intentional in what material was included.  Join us on the journey through Israel’s history, as we see covenant theology lived out in the life of the two kingdoms of Judah and Israel!  Please go the the 1 Kings Sermon Series page and feel free to download (right click and select "Save As…") any of the sermons preached by Senior Pastor Fred Greco (each are about 10 MB).

Series on Leadership

Perhaps the most critical area in order for a church’s ministry to thrive is Biblical leadership.  Elders and deacons must lead in a Biblical manner, and congregations must use Biblical criteria for selecting leaders.  Pastors Greco and Carroll have a brief four sermon series on Biblical Leadership at the Leadership Sermon Series page.
