Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands upon us; yes, establish the work of our hands! (Psalm 90:17)

OriginalsignFrom the small group of families who dared to dream that the Lord would plant a church in Katy, to the living room where patient hopes over several decades awaited fulfilment in the Lord’s time, to the Spirit-driven tug upon the heart of a former New York City policeman who would be used as a church planter, the history of Christ Church is filled with the Providential care and purpose of God. Since the very first days of Christ Church, the vision of Christ Church has been to be used by the Lord to bring the gospel to our community and to make mature disciples of Jesus Christ.

steelThat vision became a concrete reality on October 31, 1999, when the very first worship service of Christ Church was held in Cimarron Elementary School. As the Lord led this little, fledgling body of believers from rented facility to rented facility – with an ironic clarion call of “worship with us if you can find us,” the vision remained constant. Their trust in the Lord remained constant. Through the calling of a new pastor and the growth of the congregation, it remained constant. Then, in 2009, Christ Church made another step in our journey, planting a flag in Katy by building our first permanent facility on the corner of Gaston Road and Karen Lane. Through the generosity of the congregation, called to undertake Building For Ministry, funds were raised to make concept drawings and dreams a reality with brick, mortar, and steel. A home for ministry was born – where Wednesday evening family activities could flourish, where fellowship could be enjoyed, and most of all where Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world, could be worshipped through the preaching and teaching of His infallible Word.

additionThe Lord has continued to shower his blessings upon us, and we have now come to a place where Christ Church has new opportunities to reach the lost with the gospel and to build up the saints. The leadership of Christ Church is daring to dream again – to dream of more families worshipping with us, of ESL classes to serve our community, of relationships strengthened through prayer and fellowship. Once again we seek to make those dreams of ministry a reality through the use of a tool of ministry: additional fellowship space, parking for more cars, and classrooms for more Bible study. The vision remains the same – to bring the gospel and make mature disciples – and so we embark again on Building for Ministry Phase II: Honoring Our Past and Building Our Future.
